Hall of Fame 2023 Class

Manhattan Christian College Athletics and our Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce the 2023 class. Committee members Lauren Sanders (Director of Athletics), Mindy Eckert (Asst. AD), Marvin Rupe (Fmr. AD), Brandon Roth ('11), Jordan Strom ('11) Jen Lenhart ('10) and Justin Glenn ('09) started the selection process in the summer of 2022 by establishing a criteria for selection and a nomination form. From there the committee reviewed nominations and made the following selections as the members of the second Hall of Fame class in Manhattan Christian College Athletics history. The class of 2023 has been informed individually and we are excited to announce our class.

 

Angie (Epps) Bates (’05)- Women’s Basketball, 2001-2005

Angie (Epps) Bates was a standout player for the women’s basketball team scoring over 1,000 points, and bringing down over 500 rebounds in her career at MCC. During her time, Bates helped Manhattan Christian win three Conference Championships (02-03, 03-04, 04-05), four Regional Championships (2001-05) and appeared at the NCCAA National Tournament all four years (2001-05). At the National Tournaments, MCC finished in 6th place (02-03), Runner-up (03-04) and 6th place (03-04). Bates is a 3-time 1st Team All-American and a 2-time Scholar Athlete. Congratulations, Angie!

 

Katie (Wright) Cardenas ('10)- Women's Soccer, 2007-2010

Katie (Wright) Cardenas was an outstanding soccer player who was part of one of the best soccer teams to come through MCC. Wright finished her career with 60 goals (.89 goal avg.), and 28 assists (.42 assist avg.). Helping her team to four National Tournament appearances, Katie is a 4-time NCCAA All American, 2-time All-Tournament Team member, and 1-time Tournament MVP. During her time, the squad recorded a 37-26-4 record, resulting in a NCCAA National tournament 4th place finish in 2007, 3rd place finishing in 2008 and then back-to-back National Championship (2009 & 2010). Congrats Katie! 

Director of Athletics, Lauren Sanders has this to say on the inductees. “Congratulations to Katie and Angie on this honor! Both are amazing examples of athletes who competed well on the field and court in their sport and excelled in the classroom. We are thankful for all that they did for MCC Athletics during their time here and their continued support to this day.”
