Lady Thunder Defeat Kansas Christian

Overland Park, KS - In the 2020 season opener, the Lady Thunder took on the Falcons from Kansas Christian College. In what would be an exciting match of back and forth action, the Thunder would take the match in 4 sets.

MCC would struggle with getting the offense going and missing serves in the first two sets, narrowly winning the first set 25-22 and dropping the second set 19-25. The team settled in during the third and fourth set winning 25-17 adn 25-15.

The Thunder offense was led by sophomore middle hitter Brenna Flax with 14 kills, and junior outside hitter Grace Marozas with 9 kills. The defense was strong and well-balanced. Freshman libero, Roni Harris led the team with 15 digs and also tallied 4 aces.

"It was a great match to start the season, we definitely had some first game jitters to work through. But the team settled in and really started to come together. The potential on this team is outstanding. This match showed us what we need to work on and where we can really excel, and I'm excited to see how the team continues to learn and grow. They are definitely going to be fun to watch!" said Coach Sanders.
