Belton, MO - The Thunder Volleyball team captured their 6th Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament Championship this weekend in exciting fashion. MCC went undefeated in regular season and undefeated in the tournament. Going in as the #1 seed, first up for the Lady Thunder was the home team and #4 seed Calvary University.

The Thunder easily controlled the match taking the sets 25-14, 25-10 and 25-18. MCC held Calvary to a negative hitting percentage while hitting an impressive .293 percentage of their own. After the first match, the conference held the awards ceremony. The Thunder were well represented with 3 All-Conference players and the Conference MVP. Brenna Flax, Katelynn Halstead and Elise Corbett were all named to the All-Conference Team and Grace Marozas was named Conference MVP.

On Saturday, the team would take on Faith Baptist Bible College in the championship match. The Thunder would end up taking the match in 3 sets, but not without their own struggles. "We struggled offensively a bit today, Faith has a good defense and they were getting a lot of balls up that we weren't expecting. We also had way too many serving errors. However, the team rallied together and finished strong. I was impressed with our teams resilience and how they pulled together to enourage each other and pull through." said Coach Sanders. Junior outside hitter Katelynn Halstead shined on offense with 12 kills. Both middles, Flax and freshman Grace Holcomb finished with 6 kills each and zero errors. Defensively the team was strong with four players in double digits. Corbett with 14 digs, Marozas with 13 digs, freshman defensive specialist Dani Sinclair with 12 digs and Halstead wtih 11.
