Volleyball Grabs At-Large Bid to Nationals

Manhattan, KS - After a week of 'what ifs' and 'maybes' the Thunder volleyball team is OFFICIALLY headed to the NCCAA DII National Tournament in Greenville, SC the week of November 18th. MCC was able to grab the final at-large selection after remaining in the top 10 coaches poll all season as well as posting the #8 highest power rating in the country. The Thunder enter the NCCAA National Tournament as the third team out of the vaunted SW Region as the 8th seed and will play in pool A with #1 Bob Jones University (SC), #4 Johnson Univerisity - Tennessee and #5 Arlington Baptist Univerisity (TX). Pool B will consist of the #2 seed, Maranatha Baptist University (WI), #3 Geneva College (PA), #6 Toccoa Falls College (GA) and #7 Randall University (OK). 

The ladies will travel to Greenville on Sunday, November 17 in preparation for a week of practice, service projects, banquets and matches. The team will head to the All-American Banquet on Tuesday, November 19. Throughout the week, all student-athletes and coaches will participate in Christian Service Projects with the American Red Cross to provide Holiday's for Heros. 

MCC will kickoff pool play on Wednesday, November 20th at 1:00 pm CT vs #1 Bob Jones University and then again at 5:00 pm CT vs #4 Johnson University - Tennessee. Pool play will conclude on Thursday, November 21st at 11:00 am vs #5 Arlington Baptist University. Should the Thunder advance to the semi-finals they will play again at either 4:30 pm CT or 6:30 pm CT that evening. The national championship match will be played on Friday, November 22nd at 12:00 pm.
