Lady Thunder Defeat Warriors

Belton, MO - The Thunder squad travelled to Calvary University on Tuesday and came away with a 3-0 sweep to earn their first win in the Midwest Christian College Conference regular season. MCC is 1-1 in Conference play and 5-6 overall. 

The first set was a back and forth battle with both teams fighting to earn the set, but MCC pulled away with a 26-24 win. After the first set, the Thunder settled in and took control of the rest of the match, winning the second set 25-18 and the third 25-13. 

Sophomore middle hitter Greta Hinderliter led the offense with 9 kills and sophomore outside hitter Karly Gibbs finished with 7. iInderliter also added 3 solo blocks and 1 ace. Sophomore setter Tess Eblin dished out 22 assists, 3 kills and 3 aces. Junior libero Mary Frances McNellis was all over the court and added 16 digs and 2 aces. 

"It was a great team effort by everyone tonight. All the things we've been asking them to do in practice started clicking tonight. The communication was great, in a tough atmosphere to play in, the defense was aggressive and our offense was strong. I was very pleased with our level of play tonight," said Coach Sanders. 

Next up for the Lady Thunder is Ozark Christian College on Friday, September 29, 7:00pm in the Howie's Activity Center.
