Thunder Split Weekend Matches

Manhattan, KS - The Thunder started off the weekend with a home match in the Howie's Activity Center, hosting the Baptist Bible College Patriots. Looking to improve on the tough losses from the prior weekend, the Thunder squad came out strong! Prior to the match, Coach Sanders said, "We had a great week of practices, working on playing strong, being mentally tough and running our offense." All of their hard work showed against the Patriots. The offense was too strong for the Patriots defense and MCC controlled the entire match. The Thunder took the match in three straight sets, 25-10, 25-6 and 25-18.

The second match of the weekend brought a tough NAIA opponent, Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. MCC travelled to play the Ravens on their Family Weekend. "We were hoping that the success from the night before and the hard work and improvements we had seen in practice, would carry over against a tougher opponent. However, that did not happen. We were intimidated and played scared. The girls have to learn to rise up and find their own motivation when we are challenged." said Coach Sanders after the match. MCC dropped the match in three straight sets.

Next up for the Thunder will be a road match at Calvary University in Belton, MO on Tuesday, September 26 at 6:00pm.
