Thunder Volleyball Struggles in Opening Conference Play

Manhattan, KS - MCC volleyball hosted two Midwest Christian College Conference opponents, Barclay College and Emmaus Bible College on Friday. The Thunder struggled in both matches and came away with two losses.

This was the second match between Barclay and Manhattan, with MCC defeating the Bears in 3 sets earlier this season. This match up ended with Barclay winning 3-1. "Barclay's defense was better than I've ever seen it, and we could not get our offense to run fast enough or hard enough. We made too many unforced errors and gave away too many points without making them work for it." said Coach Sanders after the match.

The second match of the evening was against Emmaus Bible College. The Eagles came in to the match undefeated. Coach Sanders said, "Again, we just struggled to control the speed of the match and keep our errors low. The Eagles offense is strong and our block struggled. That's something we definitely need to work on." "This is not how we wanted to start play in the new Activity Center, so we need to get some work done to raise our level of play, but the team is up to it! We have the talent, now we just need to get them all working together towards a common goal."

Next up for the Lady Thunder will be Baptist Bible College on Friday, September 22 in the Howie's Activity Center.
