Turkovic, Women's Basketball Earn First Win

Keene, Tx - After a tough first semester full of injuries and waiting the Women's Basketball Team picked up their first win of the season on Thursday evening. The Lady Thunder traveled to Keene, Tx for a regional matchup with Southwestern Adventist University. The contest started out slow as the ladies found themselves in an early seven point hole. After a quick timeout and increased energy, the Thunder came storming back to cut the lead to one at 15-16 at the end of the first quearter. MCC came out firing in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Knights by ten in the period to take a nine point lead into halftime. 

The second half was a similar story as both teams played an even third quarter before the Lady Thunder pulled away in the final frame taking the victory 61-47. In the victory, MCC saw four players reach double figures including junior forward Kennedy Wilson (19 pts, 11 rebs) and sophomore forward Darby Cook (14 pts, 11 rebs) going for double-doubles. The win was the first in the career for Head Coach Michael Turkovic. MCC will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Calvary University for a conference matchup with the Lady Warriors.
