Thunder Knocks off KCC for First Time

Overland Park, KS - Dr. Rick Wright has directed over 500 games as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at MCC. He has won more than 75% of those contests including three national championships in 2005, 2007 and 2008, but there was one thing he had not accomplished; beating Kansas Christian College. That all changed on Monday afternoon as the Thunder would control the contest from start to finish to the tune of a 3-0 victory on the road in front of alumni and fans.

"We played well for 90 minutes," commented Assistant Coach Ben Grogg, "We had chances in the first half, but we just couldn't get one to go in."

MCC would find themselves unable to score in the first half, although they led the time of possession battle and had several opportunities at the net. The second half would be much more fruitful as senior Angel Vasquez would find the back of the net three times to secure the victory. Freshman, Hunter Lampton, and sophomore, Corey Bates, would assist on goals. With the win, MCC moves to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in region play. With a win over Randall University on October 24th the Thunder would secure the #1 seed at the NCCAA SW Region Tournament in November.
