Men's Soccer Qualifies for NCCAA II National Tournament

Manhattan, KS - After falling in the NCCAA SW Region Soccer semifinals to the #2 seed, Kansas Christian College, the Thunder find themselves sliding into the NCCAA II National Tournament field as the final at-large selection and #6 overall seed. They will open up play at the national tournament in Kissimmee, FL on Wednesday, November 20th at 4:30 pm CDT in pool play against the #2 overall seed, Providence University College - champions of the North Region. The Thunder are guaranteed two matches on the trip and will play a second pool play contest on Thursday, November 21st at 4:30 pm CDT against the #3 overall seed, Grace Christian University - champions of the Mid-east Region. Should the Thunder finish first in their pool they would advance to the national championship match and play the winner of pool A on Saturday, November 23rd at 4:00 pm.

While at the NCCAA National Tournament the MCC student-athletes will have an opportunity to participate in the Christian Service Project at East Lake Elementary School for a Turkey Trot Fun Run on Thursday, November 21st ahead of their matches. They will be cheering on the elementary aged runners as they participate in the run. Each team will also have the chance to donate funds to that will be used to help provide meals for the families of the school. 

For the men's soccer program, this will be the first national tournament appearance since 2016 when they were champions of the SW Region. All time, MCC has made more than 20 trips to the National Tournament including a streak of 19 consecutive years as region champions all with Dr. Wright as the head coach of the program. In 2005, 2007 and 2008 the program won National Championships.
