MCC Men Break Losing Streak

Lincoln, NE - The men's basketball team snapped their six game losing skid with a convincing 96-63 win at Union College last night. MCC got off to a strong start behind the good offensive play of Alex Mitura who paced the team in the first half scoring 15 points in the opening half. The Thunder also had a good defensive effort in the first half and they held a comfortable 46-26 lead at the break. In the second half MCC continued to play solid but could not stretch the lead out to greater than twenty points until under eight minutes to play. Chelvin Webb had a strong second half on the offensive end for MCC and he finished with 20 points, which was just behind Mitura who scored a team-high 21 points on the evening. Nate Awbrey came off the bench to score 12 points and eleven of the thirteen players who played registered in the scoring column. "It was nice to get a win and play well for a majority of the game. We've played better since Thanksgiving break but we have made just enough mistakes to not be able to finish those previous games with a victory," commented Head Coach Shawn Condra.

MCC will close out first semester at home on December 7 when they take on Baptist Bible College. The Patriots rolled MCC in their previous match-up this season 110-85.
