MCC Men Stumble in National Tournament
Ankeny, IA - The MCC men's basketball team entered the National Tournament as the #2 seed, but the Thunder fell in their opener falling to the #7 seed Kentucky Christian Universtiy 82-79. The Kights played very well throughout the game and every time MCC would seem to take control KCU would fight back into the game. The Thunder led for the entire second half until KCU knotted the score at 77 and following a MCC turnover KCU took their first lead of the second half at 79-77 with twenyt-five seconds left. On MCC's ensuing possession MCC split a pair of free throws to trail 79-78 with nineteen seconds. KCU connected on three of their next four free throws and a MCC three-pointer was off the mark with five seconds left to seal the victory for KCU. Mike White and Chance Houston led MCC with 19 points each and Nick Babalola chipped in with 18 points.
MCC will now play Trinity College (FL) in the consolation bracket at 9:00am on Friday.
