MCC Men Pick Up National Tournament Win
Ankeny, IA - The MCC men's basketball was able to rebound from the opening day loss at the National Tournament and defeat Trinity College (FL), 98-96. The Thunder found themselves down 48-47 at the half, but in the second half it looked like MCC was in control as they were able to open up a double digit lead but the Tigers would not go away and they were able to tie the score at 96 with under a minute to go. MCC had a great chance to take a lead but missed a layup and that gave Trinity the ball with a chance to hold for the last shot. Nick Babalola was able to come up with a blocked shot and got the outlet to Ray McDonald who was fouled as he attempted a layup. McDonald hit both free throws and MCC came up with a steal on the last possession to come away with the victory.
Babalola led the way for MCC with 29 points and 15 rebounds and McDonald added 28 points and Gabe Awbrey came off the bench to score 12 points. MCC will close out their season as they play for fifth place against Bob Jones University (SC) at 9:00am on Saturday.
