Thunder Land Norris

Manhattan, KS - The Thunder basketball program has landed their second prospect from Romeo Preparatory Academy in Paris, TX. Montario Norris, a 5'9" guard, is the latest signee for the 2015 class. As a junior at Romeo Prep Norris, along side Thunder signee Nathan Robinson, helped lead his team to a 23-16 record and a 5th place finish at the national tournament. Montario averaged 9.0 ppg, 4.0 apg, and 3.0 steals per game and was named Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts. It was during his senior year that his team won their District Championship as well as the consolation 2A state championship in the Texas Christian Athletic League. Norris averaged 12.5 ppg, 4.4 apg, and 4.0 spg while being named to the 1st team All-District, 1st team All-Region, 1st team All-State and 1st team All-Red River Valley. Norris brings a defensive mindset to the Thunder backcourt and will add depth to both guard positions. "Obviously, when you can add a defensive minded player like Montario to the squad you're going to feel good about your addition. We're excited to see Montario in action," commented assistant coach Jordan Strom. The Thunder kick off the season Oct. 23 with the Alumni scrimmage.
