Tom Lemke, Associate Head Baseball Coach

Former Husker, Tom Lemke, Named Associate Head Baseball Coach

Coach Lemke

Head Baseball Coach Jimmy McDonald has announced Tom Lemke as the newest addition to the Baseball Coaching Staff. New Associate Head Baseball Coach, Tom Lemke, comes to Manhattan Christian College after a distinguished playing career.  Originally from Grand Island, NE, Lemke grew up in Phoenix, AZ where he was prepped at Northwest Christian High School and was selected in the 10th Round by the Texas Rangers in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.  After electing not to sign a professional contract, he opted for a college baseball scholarship to the University of Nebraska where he played under Head Coaches Mike Anderson in the Big 12 Conference and Darin Erstad in the Big Ten Conference.  Lemke started 27 games for the Huskers over 3 seasons including a pair of complete game shutouts in his freshman season against the University of Oklahoma and Texas A&M University.  Lemke also played 3 summers of collegiate baseball for legendary coach Bill Pintard with the Santa Barbara Foresters in the California Collegiate League. After having a surgery to combat a blood clot in his shoulder, his playing career was unfortunately cut short following his junior season.  Lemke excelled in the classroom while at Nebraska where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013 and was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2012.  He also was also honored as an Academic All-Big Ten member in 2012 and as a First-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2011.

“I am thrilled to have a guy with Tom’s experience join me on staff here at MCC. His background in the upper echelon of collegiate baseball is going to help us build a quality program. We are very excited and passionate about developing young men for Christ through the game of baseball. Tom will serve in a variety of roles for us and will be a great asset in our recruiting efforts. His knowledge and ability to teach the game is something that really stood out to me when hiring an assistant coach” commented Head Coach Jimmy McDonald

Lemke's family resides in Phoenix, AZ and includes his parents, Beth and Jeff, and two older sisters, Sarah and Anne.
